Say No To Popularisation!

If I said to you "The Annoying Thing", you would probably not have any clue what I was talking about... Now how about me saying "Crazy Frog"? -Yeah, now you're all groaning in disapproval huh?  In actual fact, The Annoying Thing and Crazy Frog are one and the same. The only real difference is in the name (and the only other difference is that The Annoying Thing was actually novel and funny.) Just in case you have been living in a very dark shoe box, sucessfully escaping the evil Crazy Frog, this is the lowdown: Near the end of 2002, I was asked to visit a website; It consisted of a picture of an F1 car and had the text "If you are unable to stare at this picture for 30 seconds without laughing, you are officially insane!" And what followed was a sound file as I stared intently at this picture which went something like as follows: "Brrrring ding ding ding ding ding ding baum baum baum bam bam bam weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" -Sound familiar?  Naturally I cracked into a fit of laughter around the second or third "ding", and thanked the person for sending me a link to something that made me laugh that hard! This was the first time I had experienced the Crazy Frog - although unless you are a dipshit you'll realise there was no frog at all to be seen at this time.  The next occurance I witnessed was during an animation lecture in late 2004 or early 2005, this was The Annoying Thing: An ugly looking blue creature, walked to the centre of the screen and gestured like it was riding a motorbike... It then proceeded to kickstart it's bike(which is invisible) whilst making the noise: "Brrrring ding ding ding ding ding ding baum baum baum bam bam bam weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"  Now unfortunately for anyone that used to think The Annoying Thing was funny it was about to get a name change and be turned into a money making, over advertised, peice of commercialised shite! I'm sure you're all more than aware of the mobile phone adverts for screensavers and ringtones. And if that wasn't enough, how about a Crazy Frog song >_>?! Yep... because it became apparent that people found this funny, some "clever executive types" decided to force feed us all a 24-7 diet of Crazy Frog. I want to know which genius thought of remixing the Crazy Frog into Axel F... I mean that song has never been remixed before >_>, Way to go, not only are we getting so sick and tired of Crazy Frog but we are also on verge of slitting our wrists because Axel F is being played all the time... It's a double-whammy of absolute shittiness! Thanks a lot Mr. R. Sole.  You also have the entire stupidity surrounding the fact that people realised it had it's dick exposed... and it was like "OH EM GEE! quick! a CG cartoon character has been exposing itself with a stumpy pathetic excuse for a penis for a few months now... Let's make it all better by putting a big black blob over it" Brilliant idea! Indeed... that won't draw ANY attention to the fact Crazy Frog has something that most mammals have for reproduction down there. Dog owners beware... The censors might ask you to paint your dogs' schlongs black. UPDATE-04.11.05: I spotted an Annoying Thing birthday cake in Tescos - It seems they are reverting back to the original name now...
